Kindergarten Music Performance

In honor of Black History Month, Lauren performed in her first school music concert today, singing traditional African American folk songs. She stood beaming in the front row (the up side to being the smallest kid in her class) and was thrilled to see her parents in the audience. We all smiled from ear to ear as she played the rain stick, sang, and danced with her fellow Kindergarteners (children from two classes combined). I teared up a few times during the performance (equal parts pride and giddy laughter), and I expect you may do the same as you watch these videos.

The girl in the black plaid dress standing by Lauren is her friend, Quinn, who was quite possibly the only person more more energetic than Lauren.

The two girls standing with the Xylophone are Lauren's best friends, Alexis and Ayda
